When we had our self catering property in Edinburgh I was frequently asked, was there anywhere I would recommend for a day out. There are lots of places that spring to mind however St Andrews is my home town so I have to be forgiven for being slightly bias.

Salisbury Crags Walk, Edinburgh
As you drive up the A1 from the south or arrive in Edinburgh by train you’ll see views towards Salisbury Crags. Unfortunately some sections of the path are currently closed due to falling rock.

While you’re staying at Craigwell Cottage, it’s only a short walk to
Holyrood Park. In a little over an hour this morning a friend and I
walked round Arthur’s Seat on footpaths, enjoying the early autumn
