Entering Craigwell Cottage through the main door, you will find the bathroom to the left, with the twin bedroom also to the left and the double bedroom ahead at street level with windows on to Calton Road. Stairs to the right lead up to the first floor where there is an open plan living, dining and kitchen area with French windows on to balconies at the front and side of the property. Craigwell Cottage is equipped to sleep up to four adults and we can provide a travel cot free of charge. It should be noted however that for the comfort of all guests, we recommend that when the cot is used it is instead of one of the single beds.  Bedding and towels (one bath towel and one hand towel per guest) are supplied, although guests usually prefer to bring their own bedding for the cot. Parking for one car is immediately adjacent to the cottage in a private courtyard off the main street. There is access to a shared garden behind the townhouses on the opposite side of the courtyard.

Please note we are unable to accept pets at Craigwell Cottage.

Craigwell Cottage – in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town

Craigwell Cottage is part of the old Craigwell Brewery, which was established at North Back of Canongate (now Calton Road) in 1822. The building was renovated in the 1980’s to form a mixture of townhouses, apartments and this semi-detached property. The architects who worked on the conversion were Nicholas Groves-Raines Architects, and they received a Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Architecture Award in 1988 for the conversion.
